WEDNESDAY: There will be two rounds of strong to severe storms today. The first round will begin later this afternoon, particularly for southwestern areas of AL, beginning around 3 p.m. This batch of shower and storm activity will be isolated and scattered as it continues across the south-central and southeastern areas of AL into this evening. The main risk associated with these storms will be storms capable of producing strong, damaging wind gusts and the threat for a brief spin-up tornado to occur.
TONIGHT: As the main front pushes through tonight into the overnight hours, this will bring a more widespread threat, with the biggest threat being damaging gusts and small hail within some of the stronger cores. However, there will also be a low chance for a tornado to occur as the line of storms pushes through the region. The higher tornado threat will be west and north of the I-65 corridor, where even a strong tornado (EF-2+) could be possible.
TIMING TONIGHT: 10 pm (western) counties through 6 am (eastern) counties
