WEATHER WATCH: Tropical Depression 9 has formed in the Gulf as of late this afternoon. Clusters of showers and thunderstorms are becoming more pronounced in the southwestern Gulf this evening, with future hurricane Isaias threatening the northern Gulf coast with a landfall expected by Saturday. The exact track specifics are rather broad as of now, until a more centralized low forms; however, most models indicate a landfall anywhere between the southeastern coast of Louisiana and the northwestern coastline of Florida.

Regardless of the track, it will be a very wet weekend across the Deep South as a whole, especially across the coastal areas of Lousiania, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida as feeder bands come onshore starting early Saturday. Within some cells, a brief spin-up tornado cannot be ruled out, especially locations along and east of where the low-pressure tracks. Otherwise, tropical winds could also be impactful; however, which areas see the strongest winds is subjective to the intensity and track of this system.

We will be able to better fine-tune these details and their impacts on specific areas as we get better consistency among models regarding timing and intensity over the coming days.
